Finding Serenity

Serenity (pic taken from http://www.lifeiswhatyoumakeofit.com/)

Amidst the buzz of everyday life, having a serene life - free from stress and anxieties - is a luxury. Sometimes it is so hard for us to find peace or have some peace of mind. Wouldn’t it be so nice if we will be given enough time to just forget all our troubles, problems and worries, and enjoy a few moments of serenity and inner calmness? I don’t mean we should all go to a vacation, or go somewhere else, but I think we should all learn to find calmness in times of troubles.

Contradicting, isn’t it? In the first place, peace and trouble are opposite words, arent’t they? So how do we find peace when we are troubled and lots of things are going around our head?

You can’t always get what you want

You can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
You can’t always get what you want
But if you try sometimes you just might find
You just might find
You get what you need….

I could say the song “You can’t always get what you want” by the Rolling Stones is the unofficial House,MD theme song. This background song caught my attention after finishing the 22nd episode. Apparently this classic was played in three episodes, including the pilot episode aptly titled, what else, the Pilot. So what’s so big about this song aside from the fact the it was 100th greatest song of all time by the Rolling Stones? (more…)

Holding on to grief and Dr. House

I just finished watching seasons 1 and 2 of House, M.D. on dvd. Now i started watching the series’ season 3. I tried to watch at list an episode during the day after any chore and before I sleep even if it’s already 3am. I don’t know, but this program got me hooked. Even my kids know who Dr. House is now.

When I was still living in Australia, my husband and I always watch House. They were broadcasting the season 1 then. Unfortunately, before they broadcast the season 2 on tv, I need to go back to my beloved Philippines in 2006. And, more unfortunate, House was only available on cable tv here. We don’t have any cable tv in our house because the cable company won’t allow our subscription since our abode is too far from the main road, so putting long cables just to reach our house is not economical for them…Oh geez, another sad story, the local tv has started showing the season 1 of House just this month, as if it’s good news. Hmm, i am beginning to sound sarcastic like Dr. House. (more…)

Life’s What You Make It

“Don’t let no small frustration
Ever bring you down…
No, no, no, no!
Just take a situation
And turn it all around!..”

This is the first stanza of the song titled “Life’s what you make it”, from the Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana series. My cousin asked me to download and burn that song for a classmate. I got intrigued by the title so I searched for its lyrics. This may be sang by a 14 year old and its melody appeals to the young genre, but the simple lyrics speak no boundaries and ages. That’s what life is, what you make of it. Simple but profound. (more…)

Blogging at 3am?

Good morning everyone, it’s 3:24 am and while many people are in their bedrooms, snoring or better yet drifting in dreamland, I am here writing this blog. I haven’t written in two days, except that I have made another page in this site about my swarovski accessories (that I surely recommend for you to check out, thanks!).

Why I am awake in this ungodly hour like my 2 year old tot? I was waiting for my husband to go online last night but he didn’t get online, perhaps had problem with his wireless internet connection again. I was so sleepy already around 9pm, so I set my mobile phone’s alarm clock at 10pm (our usual chat time). Half awake after I heard the alarm, I checked my laptop to see if my husband buzzed, but he didn’t so i dozed off to dreamland, too. I just woke up at 2pm, and immediately remembered I wasn’t able to make juice for the kids’ school lunchbox. So i stood up and made some mango juice, filled up the kids’ drinking bottles and stored them up in the freezer. Whew, simple! (more…)
