Love what you do, or do something else

Posted by malinesky

Breakthrough (Source: http://divasdialogue.files.wordpress.com/2007/04/breakthrough-jump.jpg)I love collecting inspirational stories, poems and quotes. Sometimes, i just save them and just read them back when I had time. I wasn’t able to write a post for a week, so I thought I’d double time posting topics that interest me, and most importantly, my “blogfriends” would hopefully like. So I searched my “Inspirationals” folder and clicked some files before finally settling on the poem about loving what you do.

Earlier, I read a showbiz story from PEP about Danita Paner, an aspiring singer, who ran away from home because her adoptive mom, veteran actress Daisy Romualdez forced her to join showbiz even if she doesn’t want to pursue a showbiz career but instead continue her studies. I don’t take any side, all I can say is that they better shut their mouths up and talk privately, not on national tv!!! Anyways, I just brought this story up, not to give you the latest chika, hehe, but to point out that if she doesn’t like what she’s doing, she should do something else. If Danita’s telling the truth (her mom retaliated by saying all her statements are lies), I think she should be given the chance to just continue her studies if that’s what she really wanted to do. Life is a Boxing Match

Posted by malinesky

boxing gloves (Source:http://transcendentalfloss.com/media/images/2005/boxing.jpg)I know this topic is a little late, I should’ve posted this right after the Pacquiao-Barrera match last Oct.7 but wasn’t able to finish writing. Anyways, more than three weeks after the match, I finally got the knock to finish it. I am not really a fan of boxing coz I am more of a basketball junkie (solid Ginebra and Lakers!). Though I make it a point to watch big fights like those of Mike Tyson (before he went off the brink), Oscar Dela Hoya (during his Olympic years because he’s sooo gorgeous I wondered why he chose boxing, and despite the latest fishnet photo scandals, hehe) and of course, the people’s champ, our very own Manny Pacquiao. I also watched all the tv re-runs of all Rocky films back in highschool, but only because I thought Sylvester Stallone was a total hunk (I didn’t know what is steroids back then).

Still, I don’t really understand the sport, all I know is that two valiant people would hit each other ’til one fighter is knocked out or outscored of punches until the end of 12 rounds. I don’t know the technicalities either, however, I am so amused about the fanfare of boxing and the whole drama in it — how both fighters stare at each other down at the start of the fight, the deep r-r-r-rumbling voice of the announcer, the oversized belts (I wonder if they are really made of gold) Read the rest of this entry »

St. Jude and Daryl - my two bestfriends

Posted by malinesky

true friends are like stars (source:Allposters.com)Today is October 28, the feast day of my favorite saint, St. Jude Thaddeus. Today is also the birthday of one of my best buddies since college, DARYL! So, which one should I write about first?hmm..ok.

I consider St. Jude Thaddeus one of my favorite patrons, aside from St. Joseph and our Mother of Perpetual Help. Back in college, I was staying in a boarding house in Intramuros, and one of my boardmates, Nerise, asked me and other classmates to go with her to St. Jude parish near Malacanang to do the novena. I was a bit problematic that time with my university standing, because I really needed to have a 2.50 average (a hurdle for all PLM students and shouldn’t have any failing grade) so that I wouldn’t be kicked out that semester. So, from then on, I would religiously go with Nerise to St. Jude every afternoon despite the heat and the crowd. Of course, I also did my best to study harder that sem, so no more mountain climbing for me then. Lo, and behold, at the end of that grueling semester (fourth year 2nd sem, i think), know what was my GWA? EXACTLY 2.50! Truly, God gives us what we really need! Read the rest of this entry »

    About Me

    Who am i?

Hi everyone, I'm Maline! Before blogging hit me, I was a chemical engineer, a Senior Investments Specialist in a government agency, and had my Masters of Environment degree from UniMelb in Oz. However, I had a 180degrees turn from all of these and chosen a much noble and more fulfilling (yet harder) path - to be a stay at home mommy to my three beautiful kids. Above all these, I am a one tough cookie, an optimist, survivor, novice blogger, a dreamer. I hope you like my blog, and come join my journey -- Living life to the fullest one day at a time!
