Feel the freedom!

Freedom (Source: http://www.mac4ever.com/media/fonds/image/freedom.jpg)I should have finished my overdue blog about boxing, which I have started writing right after the Pacquiao-Barrera fight, but both my schoolies had their exams and school presentations for the last two weeks so I couldn’t really stay glued to my laptop and finish the post even if it just needs some editing.

Anyways, I was about to do that task yesterday but I was not really in the mood to write so I just changed this site’s theme because I was getting tired of the old blue one. So, for those pips who visited this site last night and noticed how quirky was it, am so sorry because I was actually doing some dry runs on many themes - ten or so, i think. I actually had settled on an olive-style theme but my husband told me he doesn’t like it. I was not really satisfied with it either, but of all the themes I downloaded, it’s the easiest to manipulate and add widgets to.

So after I chatted with Albert last night I searched again for some downloadable Wordpress themes, and got this one! Coincidentally, the title of this theme is Feelthefreedom! The first time I did the test run, I loved it instantly! Thanks to Frederick and Malen (my tukayo) for appreciating the changes. And of course, to Albert for being my theme adviser.

What I like more about blogging, aside from having my own medium to express all my thoughts about anything, is the freedom to manipulate this blog site. Although I am not into designing my own theme (yet! that’s one of my next agendas), maneuvering around all the widgets, plugins, and sometimes playing around html codes, actually bring me some fulfillment and freedom! Computer stuffs and programming are really alien things to me. I would prefer chemistry, history books (hehe, my highschool classmates would ridicule me on this, but yes, thanks to Mrs. Fabian - our world history teacher) and literary works rather than being a computer techie. Although I could say I am good on using MS office and other softwares, but who wasn’t? Even my kids know how to use YM! But please, no programming, DOS and those .exe files.

I remember back in college, we were still using Wordstar in writing reports, and everytime I would rent a computer I was so nervous! I don’t know why, even turning on/off the pc I would ask any assistant available and was so afraid to damage the computer or anything. More so, everything was DOS based and I always had a hard time remembering those keys and symbols! We also had a basic computer subject then and we had to create a program using Pascal. We’re in a group of four, and unluckily for all of us, computer programming was our waterloo. So we asked a computer science stude to help us in our project, and she willingly gave us one of his finished programs. Unfortunately, our teacher got noticed the project because he was her former instructor! HMMP, cheaters really don’t win, hehe. So we ended up doing another program with her help, which our teacher finally accepted. But did I learn to use Pascal? Well, let me just say I am thankful I didn’t take up computer science/programming/engineering in college, otherwise, for sure I wouldn’t have finished college.hehe.

So now, manipulating my blog site is like a regression. Aside from not doing any DOS based things, I don’t need to do those HTML codes and programs, I just get the widgets, get the codes and copy them in my theme editor, and voila! I had changed/improved my site to my own liking! It’s like overcoming those fears before because now I just have to cut and paste, download and extract, activate and deactivate. I never thought maintaining my own website would be this easy. Total freedom!

Hmmm, now I just realized, one of the reasons I fell in love with my ex-b0yfriend (who’s now my husband) is because he’s into computers! Well, at least now I know better why couples should really complement each other!

Be happy!!!!Don’t forget to smile!
