Love what you do, or do something else

Breakthrough (Source: http://divasdialogue.files.wordpress.com/2007/04/breakthrough-jump.jpg)I love collecting inspirational stories, poems and quotes. Sometimes, i just save them and just read them back when I had time. I wasn’t able to write a post for a week, so I thought I’d double time posting topics that interest me, and most importantly, my “blogfriends” would hopefully like. So I searched my “Inspirationals” folder and clicked some files before finally settling on the poem about loving what you do.

Earlier, I read a showbiz story from PEP about Danita Paner, an aspiring singer, who ran away from home because her adoptive mom, veteran actress Daisy Romualdez forced her to join showbiz even if she doesn’t want to pursue a showbiz career but instead continue her studies. I don’t take any side, all I can say is that they better shut their mouths up and talk privately, not on national tv!!! Anyways, I just brought this story up, not to give you the latest chika, hehe, but to point out that if she doesn’t like what she’s doing, she should do something else. If Danita’s telling the truth (her mom retaliated by saying all her statements are lies), I think she should be given the chance to just continue her studies if that’s what she really wanted to do.

Forcing ourselves or if we were pushed by peers, family, or even the society to do something we don’t really like doing, will eventually not bring us any good. It’s either we would fail or even if we succeed, we wouldn’t really be fulfilled. Everything would just be superficial. We should not let anyone tell us what we should do, and even cannot do. We should decide for ourselves which path to follow even if we’re all up against all kinds of odds.

If we put our minds to whatever it is that we wanted to do, then that is really the way to go, even if sometimes our reputation is at stake. I like this quote from John Wooden, a member of the US Basketball Hall of Fame, “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are.”

Lakasan lang ng loob diba? Specially if we’re going to swim against the tide just to pursue what we really wanted. Yes, most of the times sticking up with what we really like to do is a big hurdle. There would be lots of challenges, but if we’re truly determined, nothing should get on our way in achieving what we really wanted. Just like what Christopher Robin said to Winnie the Pooh, “You’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” So just follow our dreams! If we fail, then assess everything and look for alternatives, then follow another road we think is best for us. What’s the first secret of success? SELF-TRUST, according to Ralph Waldo Emerson. Most of the times we have to trust ourselves, otherwise who would? And I think he’s right!

Ooops, the post is getting longer again, and before I forgot, hehe. here’s the poem I wanted to share with you:

LOVE WHAT YOU DO, OR DO SOMETHING ELSE

You’ll never achieve real success unless you
like what you’re doing.
No one has ever succeeded in a line of endeavor
which they did not like.

Your chances of success are directly proportional
to the degree of pleasure you derive from what you do.
If you’re in a job you hate,
face the fact squarely and get out.

It’s better to be a failure in something you love,
than attempting to be a success in something you don’t.
Don’t set compensation as a goal.
Find the work you love, and the compensation will follow.

The more you love what you are doing,
the more successful it will be for you.

my previous work is in Makati, but I’m from Bulacan. Though dami naman naguuwian na bulakenyos working in Makati, hirap kasi pag may 3 kids na.More than 4hours commute, plus laki pamasahe, my expenses for the month for transpo and food would go about Php5k. Anyways,i am looking for job somewhere malapit dito. Para I have more time with kids and less expense.

I’ll add you up to my YM later! I need to do grocery, holiday bukas!hehe. God bless!
