Follow your dreams
This is a continuation of my previous post about doing what you wanted to do. I found this poem just right after I finished writing the last blog, and I thought this could be a part II of “Love what you do, or do something else” but I preferred to use the title of the poem because I deemed it’s more appropriate - and more dramatic.hehe.
I always believe that we always have the right to choose our paths. Our future depends on many things, but mainly it would depend on us. Life has many choices, but if we would only choose with our hearts, I believe for sure that that is the right choice. It may be hard to follow, but as long as we are determined and set on to pursue what our hearts desire, for sure we will succeed. So despite all the hardships and obstacles that we may encounter, let’s all follow our dreams so that success would be much sweeter!
As I have said in my last blog, lakasan lang yan ng loob! SO DREAM ON AND FOLLOW IT!!!
Follow your dreams
If while pursuing distant dreams
Your bright hopes turn to gray,
Don’t wait for reassuring words
Or hands to lead the way.
For seldom will you find a soul
With dreams the same as yours.
Not often will another help you
Pass through untried doors.
If inner forces urge you
To take a course unknown,
Be ready to go all the way,
Yes, all the way alone.
That’s not to say you shouldn’t
Draw lessons from the best;
Just don’t depend on lauding words
To spur you on your quest.
Find confidence within your heart
And let it be your guide.
Strive ever harder toward your dreams
And they won’t be denied.

I don’t know if you ever saw the TV series McGyver back in the 80’s. I remember, the character said one time, “I took up Physics because I’m interested in it, not because I wanted to get a job after.” That stayed with me. Therefore, I took up literature even though it’s not the hottest and most in demand course in the Philippines.

I love McGyver!!! Aside from Ginebra, I am so gaga over McGyver and always waited for every episode in RPN 9 before. Maybe I got my love for chemistry from him, ya know, all those impromptu mixing of things handy to him.
Alam mo naman dito sa Pinas, most of the students usually take up courses not because they are interested, but because the course is in demand abroad (or their parents told them to).
