What a Monday morning!!!
Good morning everyone! I am having my coffee now with puto I steamed last nov.1 (still tasted great coz I put the leftovers in the fridge, I’ll post the recipe soon). It’s just past 7am as I started writing this post. And already, what a great day it is! I think I need another cuppa. So, how my beautiful morning started today, Nov. 5 - the first day of my kids’ classes after the weeklong holiday?
1. Past midnight, as I was about to go to bed after nightly chat with Albert, the lights went off. I thought the electric fuse was busted again. But after some few minutes, I heard the neighbors saying it was brownout! Hehe, I remembered a faculty member in Oz who asked me to compare the lifestyle between Australia and the Philippines. I told him some differences, particularly the comfort of life in Oz, then I also told him there were no brownouts there. He asked me what is brownout, so I explained it some kind of power outage. He said, ahhh, blackout. Ok, different terms, but here in Pinas, when we say ‘blackout’ it’s supposed to be massive, right?
2. Right after the power went off, I searched for some candles then miguel, my middle child woke up. I told him to go back to sleep. Of course, he didn’t but rather asked me why there’s no light. Then Kaye and Carl woke up next. They were a bit cranky, so I gave them the toy led light I promised to let them play when there’s a brownout. Crankiness solved, but they won’t sleep ‘coz they just played!
3. The electricity was back again after an hour, my kids excitedly blew off the candle while singing happy birthday!hehe. We all dozed off to dreamland very soon after that. But I forgot to plug the fridge back, so that the kid’s school drinks would be frozen by morning. Worst, I also forgot to set my cellphone alarm!
4. So, no alarms and a hang over from last night’s brownout, I woke up at 6:07 am!!! I hurriedly got up and woke up Kaye because she needed to be in school by 7am. I woke up Miguel, too, but he just growled. Kaye went straight to the shower, and I woke up Miguel again, this time he got up but a little grumpy. While I iron the uniforms (I only washed their blouses and polos last night, hehe - cramming!), Kaye volunteered to prepare some milk for her and Miguel and I just told them to have some cupcakes. Sweet kid. She did that after her quick shower, while Miguel, well, still grumpy but he started to wash up by this time.
5. I usually wake up at 5 or 5:30am the latest, because I need to prepare their baons and breakfast. But now, it was too late for me to cook so I told Kaye she just buy lunch in the school canteen. I also told Miguel to just order his snack, he asked me why - he’s still grumpy. Miguel is used to bring heavy snack to school because whatever is Kaye’s baon for lunch, I also pack the same for him. He doesn’t like eating breakfast before leaving the house (unless I cook instant pansit canton), so I just make him a rice baon for their 9am snack.
6. Quarter to 7, Kaye hopped to her tricycle service that was already waiting for her since 6:30. Miguel’s still a little grumpy, so I put some hair coat on his hair, and told him he would be much guwapo if we fixed his hair. Grumpiness solved, he flashed those gorgeous wide smile and became cheerful in an instant-hehe. I just gave him 20pesos so that he could order his snack in school. Then few minutes before 7am his tricycle service picked him up.
7. Whew! What a great day today! I know it would be another restless, but good week! So I started writing here after the chaos. It’s a bit gloomy today and rains started early this morning (or so I thought because there were no rains when we slept). I asked my tatay if there’s a storm today. He said yes, it’s signal no.1 in Bulacan! Huh, it was too sunny yesterday? Because if it is, then it means Kaye and Miguel have no classes - school rules! I told him why he didn’t tell me earlier. I checked the Pagasa website, and there! We have a bagyo named Kabayan and it’s signal no.1. Hayyy…had I known earlier, we all just stayed in bed longer. I usually turn the TV on for Unang Hirit every morning while I do the morning routines, but our TV is busted for a few weeks now and I couldn’t find a repairman to come here and do home service. I don’t want to bring our TV to the shop because aside from it being heavy, I am wary the electrician would just get some parts and replace it with some defective things - baka kahuyin. Thank God, I have my laptop and internet to keep me sane. Hehehe, but next time I won’t forget to set the alarm.
It’s almost 8am, Kaye just got back, and Miguel could be here anytime now. Hay, sarap matulog the whole day….and dream about the morning mess all cleaned up, the clean laundry all folded up and nicely arranged in the closet, clean floors, no more dirty plates in the sink, the kids’ uniforms all crisply ironed, and ooopps, a good chef to cook us a nice lunch and dinner,er, including snacks! Just thinking about these day’s chores, makatulog pa kaya ako?hehe…got to go and better start!
Good day everyone, have a nice week! DON’T FORGET TO SMILE!!!Cheers!
