Dance or Drag? - Footprints in the Sand
We all have read the original poem Footprints in the Sand so I just want to share with you the new versions of the famous poems that I found. At the end of you’re reading, I want to ask you to make a choice. So here’s the first new version:
Footprints in the Sand 2
Imagine you and the Lord Jesus walking down the road together. For much of the way, the Lord’s footprints go along steadily, consistently, rarely varying the pace. But your prints are a disorganized stream of zigzags, starts, stops, turnarounds, circles, departures and returns. For much of the way it seems to go like this. But gradually, your footprints come more in line with the Lord’s, soon paralleling His consistently. You and Jesus are walking as true friends. This seems perfect, but then an interesting thing happens: your footprints that once etched the sand next to the Master’s are now walking precisely in His steps. Inside His larger footprints is the small ’sand print’, safely enclosed. You and Jesus are becoming one.
This goes on for many miles. But gradually you notice another change. The footprint inside the larger footprint seems to grow larger. Eventually it disappears altogether. There is only one set of footprints. They have become one.
Again, this goes on for a long time. But then something awful happens. The second set of footprints is back. And this time it seems even worse. Zigzags all over the place. Stops. Starts. Deep gashes in the sand. A veritable mess of prints. You’re amazed and shocked. But this is the end of your dream. Now you speak. “Lord, I understand the first scene with the zigzags and fits and starts and so on. I was a new Christian, just learning. But You walked on through the storm and helped me learn to walk with you.”“That is correct.”
“Yes, and when the smaller footprints were inside of Yours, I was actually learning to walk in Your steps. I followed You very closely.”
“Very good. You have understood everything so far.”
“Then the smaller footprints grew and eventually filled in with Yours. I suppose that I was actually growing so much that I was becoming like you in every way.”
“Precisely.”
“But this is my question. Lord.. Was there a regression or something? The footprints went back to two, and this time it was worse than the first.”
The Lord smiles, then laughs. “You didn’t know?”
He says. “That was when we danced.”
Isn’t it nice to dance, too, and not just always be carried as we journey through life? It’s as if we’re also doing our share of the works, not just letting Jesus do everything. Just some thoughts, this new version could also have this similar ending:
The Lord replied, “My precious child.
I love you and I would never leave you.During your times of trial and suffering
when you saw the mess of footprints…That was when I danced with you.”
Anyways, here is the third version of the infamous poem, and I know many of us could relate to this one, just like me:
Footprints in the Sand 3
Once Jesus finished explaining the meaning of the first two sets of footprints, I inquired about the third set.
“So,” I asked, “the dual set of prints are from when we walked side by side?”
“Yes.” Jesus answered.
“And the single set of footprints are not my walking with out you, but those are your footprints from the times that you carried me?”
“That is correct.” Jesus said.
“Then, what about that third set?” I asked. “The footprints are sideways and partially obscured by deep cuts in the sand. And it looks like that part of the beach has been torn up with sand thrown indiscriminately. What happened there?”
“My dear son,” Jesus said, with an amused smile and a hint of laughter in his voice. “That is when I had to drag you, kicking and screaming.”
The third version is a little funny, but if we think of about it, we sometimes do that when we are so much troubled in life, don’t we? When we whine a lot about our lives and anxieties, we forget to pray and we forget that life troubles are easier to bear when we are not panicky and complaining. Nevertheless, it’s still comforting to know that even if we kick and scream our hearts out, Jesus is still there, holding our hands - ALWAYS.
For sure, I wanna be carried at some point and dance once in a while. How about you? Your choice - you wanna be carried, dance, or be dragged?
HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
Jesus is the season for the reason!

yeah right!!! sometimes he needs to drag us para magtino lng tau… like in the illustration of bruce wilkinson in the book secrets of the vine… sometimes he needs to cut the stem, some branches and to prune us to produce better and more fruits. hurting sa umpisa but more fruitful at the end.
