100th POST - Part I (The Birth)
This is my 100th blog post. I have waited for this milestone and I thought this 100th post should be special, coz it also coincides when me and the kids came back from Oz, January 8 - whew, I’ve already been here in Pinas for two years? Seems like only yesterday!

Anways, since my first post in August last year, beautifulandhappy has become my new companion whom I can pour all my thoughts, no-nonsense or not. I never thought blogging would become a passion, and beautifulandhappy my alter ego. I know this post would be long (Though I’d try to be brief, and I hope you finish ’til the last part, hehe). Now I wish to share my blog journey that is BEAUTIFULANDHAPPY:
- Escaping the rat race in 2006 and finally resigning from the job I held for almost 9 years, was one of the hardest decision I made. Yet I chose the noblest (and hardest) career I ever had, which is full-time motherhood. The transition wasn’t easy, I almost gave up and tried to find work again coz I am used to earning my own money. But just the thought of leaving my kids to somebody else’s care break my heart. So I opted to stay home and played the role of house CEO/Tutor/Katulong :
. I exchanged my 3 inches stilettos for a more comfortable but less stylish sneakers and slippers, the corporate attire and pantsuits were trimmed down to ordinary shirt and short pants, and my fashionable office handbags were transformed to bodybag and the green bags (and sometimes bayong,hehe) I use when I go to palengke (market)! No more plantsa ng hair, coz my hair is now tied up in a pigtail from sun-up to sun-down. I don’t have yayas and even kasambahay - I manage the house all by myself! More nerve-wracking if you’d ask me compared to a 9-5 job!
- My first blogging experience is thru Friendster - I never thought there is a wider blogosphere! I started writing a few blog posts and I enjoyed writing online - like writing on a virtual paper. That Friendster blog also became an instant vent of what I was going through in 2006. Despite my career sacrifices, I encountered “narrow-minded” people who tried to malign me and (un-solicitedly) criticized my life. In the first place, these fibbers don’t have any right to judge me and my family! In my heart, staying with my 3 young kids while Albert’s still abroad is the best thing to do. And yet, these low-bred philistines (redundancy intended) ran havoc to my privacy and threw false judgment at me. They almost ruined my family but I thank God, He’s the only witness that there’s no truth to these people’s malicious rumbles. They did not succeed for God surely doesn’t tolerate maligners who fabricate crooked stories. In the end, I thank these people because despite the trauma they caused me, I have stronger resolve and faith, and a better relationship with my husband. Bahala na ang Diyos sa inyo, alam nyo naman kung sino kayo. (God will take care of you, you know who you are)
- I attempted to start some home biz, from making pulvoron, shoe bags, food pushcarts - you name it, I probably have thought of all possible biz - but nothing took off so I gave up. The only part time biz I still do now is creating handmade swarovski on a per-order basis (which I have taken for granted lately coz my free times are now devoted to blogging). I was almost tempted, too, to join online money-making schemes that lure people of quick and big income but luckily because of my skepticism, I never signed up to any of these scams. But these became a blessing in disguise because I was able to read many stories of blogging success while net browsing. So the interest of having my own site grew.
- At first I signed up for a blogspot account but I never posted anything. I was still at a loss then of what topic to write about. Nevertheless, after numerous readings, I decided to register a domain name and have a paid webhost. I knew then that my site would be something about life. I tried some names like - beautifullife, lifeisbeautiful, happynbeautiful, etc. Then I finally settled on beautifulandhappy! After paying for my domain and host, my next dilemma is how to set up the webpages (kala ko kasi I have to do the webpages or pay for somebody to do it for me! Hay). So I bookmarked all the websites I found that offer webpage tutorials, wondering if I could even make a single webpage! Hehe, of course, I never succeeded on creating a webpage (I am such an ignoramus with IT!
)
- Luckily though, that time the TV teaser for Mel&Jay was about a Pinoy who makes money thru internet and blogging. I got curious so even before that Sunday show, I searched the internet and found Yugatech’s blog. Scanning through hissite, I stumbled his post about Wordpress - still a very alien term for me then. So I searched again what Wordpress is and so I learned that’s the platform bloggers use. From there, I googled how to install Wordpress and lo, I did it without any headache! so easy!!!!
