Just Stop Complaining!

Stop Complaining

Most of us are cynical and see a glass half empty. It’s easier for us to have a negative attitude than a positive one, right? However, wouldn’t it be nicer to see a glass half full and be thankful of the content? Yet, even if we try hard to be positive at all times, often the simplest incidents give us a gloomy outlook again. Like when we’re already running late for work and there’s this horrendous traffic coming our way. Or when a bill is due today and yet we still don’t have the money to pay for it. It’s hard to smile during this times, right?

It doesn’t need a catastrophe to bring us back to the world of negative thinking. Personally, I also had numerous battles and seemingly negative episodes that sometimes it’s hard for me to see the silver lining. Believe me, I had those times that I just simply want to give up! Nonetheless, whenever I start to whine I try to come back to my rational senses. I try to pause for a while and analyze everything that’s happening. As always, it’s not bad after all and I just need to see other side of the coin. I know it’s easier said than done coz the real world is full of complexities in itself, right?

Funny, but if you would check The Bible, you won’t find the word ‘positive’ in any of the verses. But it has lots of verses about compaints and complainings!!! Hundreds of them! I guess whining is really our second nature,eh? Even Job questioned God and had the following complain: “I despise my life; I would not live forever. Let me alone; my days have no meaning.” (Job 7:16). If you know the story of Job, you’d see that despite his faithfulness God allowed Satan to test him. So he was given all the tragedies any man don’t want to suffer and everything was taken away from him, including his family and riches! So his complaints are understandable, but of course in the end, God answered Job and redeemed him and blessed his latter days.

Many times we are like Job, right? We question and complain about all the problems we encounter. However, if we will look closely, suffering is certainly not a waste. There’s always a reason for everything that is happening. So we should live by faith and we should not let problems blind our sights. Because if we don’t see beyond all our problems, we won’t realize that all the hard things we experience have definite purpose. God surely knows what is good for us. I have proven this in numerous times whenever my resolve is tested, I know I should hold on to only one thing - Faith!

So cheer up! Stop complaining! Hope these Bible verses help:

Romans 8:28
(The Message version)

Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.

Psalm 57:1-3
(Amplified Bible version)

BE MERCIFUL and gracious to me, O God, be merciful and gracious to me, for my soul takes refuge and finds shelter and confidence in You; yes, in the shadow of Your wings will I take refuge and be confident until calamities and destructive storms are passed.

I will cry to God Most High, Who performs on my behalf and rewards me [Who brings to pass His purposes for me and surely completes them]!

He will send from heaven and save me from the slanders and reproaches of him who would trample me down or swallow me up, and He will put him to shame. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]! God will send forth His mercy and loving-kindness and His truth and faithfulness.

First Maline, let me thank you for stopping by Black Tennis Pro’s today and putting such a positive spin on Serena’s message. Your words really caused me to look at her diary entry a little different.

Secondly, I love this post. That ‘Stop…’ sign needs to be on every corner. Every time I start feeling a bit itchy and ready to complain, I learned some time ago to check myself by just taking a look around at my life and counting my blessings. I then quickly apologize to God and move right along.

thanks for the visit! i like the way Serena shared her heartaches although she never used the word me or I. Its beautifully written. Such a strong girl on the hardcourt has a soft heart - like every girl does! I just admire people who are brave enough to share their pains. :)

nice article. life is really not complete without the complexities. there are enumerable times that i am about to give up. sometimes i’m emotionally battled. loving someone who don’t love you back is very frustrating. it’s the major reason that i felt so bad, that i’m about to give up. what i always do is to feel the pain, PRAY, then just do something that will make me forget about it. there are things that we can do to divert our attention. one nice thing to do is to make yourself beautiful…go to the salon or spa..buy new clothes…hehehe…it’s a woman thing…and it works….:) …seriously, life and its complexities is beautiful. but when you are faced with it’s complexities…STOP for a while…think…and act on it.

with regards to your article that’s we dont have to complain always because there are others that are less fortunate than us. Minsan de rin maiwasan ang mag-complain lalo na kung hindi mo tangap ang problemang dumating sayo

yup, scart sometimes we can’t help but complain, especially if we’re so occupied with our problems. but if we pause a while even if lots of problems are engulfing us, i think we could find some piece to see everything in a different perspective.

Funny you should say something about thinking glass-filled all the time. My friend had just admired my positivity 2 days ago when we had a little “spur of the moment” 2 hour drive to Tucson for some long story I won’t bore you with  . But bottomline, I do agree with your post. It’s the half-filled attitude that keeps everything in control, I believe, or you really won’t find happyness when you need it most.

By the way, I have something in my blog for you to pick up. Please check my latest post for more info.

And yes, you deserve it ;)

    cheers m’dear….xxxx!
