Always to Your Advantage
Everything happens for a reason - we always hear this old adage over and over. But it’s true. Love and heartache, illness and good health, injury and recovery, success and failure - everything we experience are life tests. Without them, we could say that our lives run smoothly. But come to think of it, without these ups and downs, our lives would be dull and pointless.
These life challenges spice up our lives. Sometimes we question why we need to go through all these, testing our faith and resolve. But if we would only wait and be patient, we would soon realize that everything that happened (even those we thought are bad or negatives) would eventually work to our advantage. We just need to perceive that there’s always a reason for everything and they happen in God’s own time. If we would keep on whining about our problems, we wouldn’t know the true meaning of all the events in our lives and why they are happening. We will not discover the wonder and beauty of life. In my case, this is true.
I have lots of ups-and-downs in the last few years, I even came to the brink of giving up. But thank God, He helps me see the bigger picture and makes me realize that there’s a purpose and value to it all. When I keep on repeating that everything has a purpose and just lift up my burdens to Him, I lose my anxieties and have stronger faith. At the same time, when my anxieties are all gone, I can look over at any problem with confidence and a clearer head - making it easier for me to think of solutions or steps to take.
I know, there are circumstances that agonizes us alot. Everyone experiences various levels and types of challenges. It may be hard to follow, but if we would only try to see beyond the challenges, we could face it with more confidence, right? Just try to be more positive always, because for sure, later on everything would be ok and every challenged happened to our own advantage. Here’s a nice story I wanna share:
The Traveling Angels
Two traveling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansions guest room. Instead the angels were given a space in the cold basement.
As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied…”Things arent always what they seem.”
The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife. After sharing what little food they had the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good nights rest.
When the sun came up the next morning the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole income, lay dead in the field.
The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel, “How could you have let this happen? The first man had everything, yet you helped him”, she accused. “The second family had little but was willing to share everything, and you let their cow die!”
“Things arent always what they seem”, the older angel replied. “When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn’t find it. Then, last night as we slept in the farmers bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave her the cow instead. Things arent always what they seem”.
Sometimes this is exactly what happens when things don’t turn out the way you expected. If you have faith, you just need to trust that every outcome is always to your advantage. You might not know it until some time later.

That’s the way I think of it - everything is perfect in the universe. Whatever happens to me, like it or not, it’s designed to help me become the best person I can be. That’s not say I don’t cry when I’m hurt coz I do. But that’s to say I don’t feel desperate nor angry that not so pleasant things happen to me.
