You need to give the student the grade s/he earned. Unfortunately, there are some folks who won’t be able to grasp physics … I should know because I am one of them! If you did all you could to explain it and offered help after lecture, then that is all you can do. Also, things make enough sense during lecvture, when the professor is there the ask the right questions to put the student on the right track. Test time is another matter.
